For some people, pole dancing may get a bad rap. However, it is all about a form of performing art which combines dancing and gymnastics. Pole dancing involves a vertical pole and dancing sensually. In a club or circus, the stage performance is less gymnastic and goes along with striptease. Meanwhile, advance pole dancing requires strength, agility and endurance.

Pole dancing started in the 1920s in the United States. Until the 1980s, pole dancing and striptease gained the popularity in Canada and then in America. Despite the fact that pole dancing is mostly performed at strip clubs, a group of people are trying to make it as an athletic and artistic form of dance. In other words, it means strictly non-nude and non-stripping. Even, advocates push pole dancing to be the official sport in different kinds of Olympics worldwide.
